Mývatn is the fourth largest natural lake in Iceland. The area is known for the presence of about fifteen duck species. Located in an extremely volcanic area, it saw nine eruptions from 1975 to 1984.
Goðafoss ("waterfall of the gods") is one of Iceland's best known and most spectacular waterfalls. it is located in the north of the island. The waters of the Skjálfandafljót river fall for about 12 meters over a width of 30 m.
